The English Department of Union Christian College, Aluva, launched the 8th edition of Raanthal on 19th December, 2025 in front of ‘Kacherimalika’ on the college campus. This is a student initiative aimed at transforming trash to treasure.The exhibition/sale of the handmade products by the students to create a student emergency fund was inaugurated by the College Principal, Prof. Dr Mini Alice, who addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of sustainable student initiatives.
‘Raanthal-Light a Smile’ campaign by the Department of English, is a sustainable venture that focuses on up-cycling waste materials into eco-friendly products. These products are put up for sale, and the proceeds are utilised foReport:r a student aid fund. Crocheted items, paintings, tote bags, pouches, jewellery, Lippan art works, and food items are among the various products showcased.
Both teaching and non-teaching staff extended their wholehearted support to the initiative. Through Raanthal, the students focus on promoting sustainability and social responsibility.The team looks forward to more such opportunities that contribute to environmental consciousness and student welfare. The exhibition concluded on 22nd of December 2025.
